It serves the purpose of many English prepositions such as &#8220;at&#8221;, &#8220;in&#8221;, &#8220;to&#8221;, and &#8220;on&#8221; as long as it indicates a target of an action.<\/p>\n<h3>Example<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u5b66\u6821\u3000\u3010\u304c\u3063\u30fb\u3053\u3046\u3011 &#8211; school<\/li>\n<li>\u884c\u304f\u3000\u3010\u3044\u30fb\u304f\u3011 &#8211; to go<\/li>\n<li>\u660e\u65e5\u3000\u3010\u3042\u3057\u305f\u3011 &#8211; tomorrow<\/li>\n<li>\u304f\u308b &#8211; to come<\/li>\n<li>\u30d0\u30b9 &#8211; bus<\/li>\n<li>\u4e57\u308b\u3000\u3010\u306e\u30fb\u308b\u3011 &#8211; to ride<\/li>\n<li>\u805e\u304f\u3000\u3010\u304d\u30fb\u304f\u3011 &#8211; to ask; to listen<\/li>\n<li>\u524d\u3000\u3010\u307e\u3048\u3011 &#8211; in front<\/li>\n<li>\u7acb\u3064\u3000\u3010\u305f\u30fb\u3064\u3011 &#8211; to stand<\/li>\n<li>\u53cb\u9054\u3000\u3010\u3068\u3082\u30fb\u3060\u3061\u3011 &#8211; friend<\/li>\n<li>\u4f1a\u3046\u3000\u3010\u3042\u30fb\u3046\u3011 &#8211; to meet<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>\u5b66\u6821<em>\u306b<\/em>\u884c\u304f\u3002<br \/>\nGo to school.<\/li>\n<li>\u89aa\u621a\u306f\u3001\u660e\u65e5<em>\u306b<\/em>\u304f\u308b\u3002<br \/>\nAs for relative(s), come tomorrow.<\/li>\n<li>\u30d0\u30b9<em>\u306b<\/em>\u4e57\u308b\u3002<br \/>\nRide on bus.<\/li>\n<li>\u5148\u751f<em>\u306b<\/em>\u805e\u304f\u3002<br \/>\nAsk\/listen to teacher.<\/li>\n<li>\u4eba\u306e\u524d<em>\u306b<\/em>\u7acb\u3064\u3002<br \/>\nStand in front of people.<\/li>\n<li>\u53cb\u9054<em>\u306b<\/em>\u4f1a\u3046\u3002<br \/>\nMeet friend.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>\u300c\u3067\u300d Context Particle<\/h2>\n<p>The context particle is used to describe the context or the means in which a verb takes place. For example, if you&#8217;re eating at a restaurant, since the restaurant is not a direct target for eating, you wouldn&#8217;t use the \u300c\u306b\u300d particle. Instead, you would use the \u300c\u3067\u300d particle to describe the restaurant as the context in which eating is taking place.<\/p>\n<h3>Example<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u30ec\u30b9\u30c8\u30e9\u30f3 &#8211; restaurant<\/li>\n<li>\u65e5\u672c\u8a9e\u3000\u3010\u306b\u30fb\u307b\u3093\u30fb\u3054\u3011 &#8211; Japanese language<\/li>\n<li>\u8a71\u3059\u3000\u3010\u306f\u306a\u30fb\u3059\u3011 &#8211; to speak<\/li>\n<li>\u306f\u3057 &#8211; chopsticks<\/li>\n<li>\u6620\u753b\u9928 \u3010\u3048\u3044\u30fb\u304c\u30fb\u304b\u3093\u3011 &#8211; movie theatre<\/li>\n<li>\u4ed5\u4e8b \u3010\u3057\u30fb\u3054\u3068\u3011 &#8211; work<\/li>\n<li>\u5fd9\u3057\u3044 \u3010\u3044\u305d\u304c\u30fb\u3057\u3044\u3011 (i-adj) &#8211; busy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>\u30ec\u30b9\u30c8\u30e9\u30f3<em>\u3067<\/em>\u98df\u3079\u308b\u3002<br \/>\nEat at restaurant.<\/li>\n<li>\u65e5\u672c\u8a9e<em>\u3067<\/em>\u8a71\u3059\u3002<br \/>\nSpeak in Japanese. (Eat by means of chopsticks.)<\/li>\n<li>\u6620\u753b\u9928<em>\u3067<\/em>\u6620\u753b\u3092\u898b\u308b\u3002<br \/>\nWatch movie at movie theatre.<\/li>\n<li>\u4ed5\u4e8b<em>\u3067<\/em>\u5fd9\u3057\u3044\u3002<br \/>\nBusy with work. (Busy by means of work.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>\u300c\u3078\u300d Directional Particle<\/h2>\n<p>The \u300c\u3078\u300d particle is similar in some ways to the \u300c\u306b\u300d particle. However, while the \u300c\u306b\u300d particle indicates a target for just about any verb, \u300c\u3078\u300d is more specifically used to indicate a direction of motion verbs such as &#8220;to go&#8221; or &#8220;to send&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Because the \u300c\u306b\u300d particle does everything \u300c\u3078\u300d does and more, this particle is not used as often as the other particles.
