This is done by simply attaching \u300c\u305f\u3044\u300d to the verb stem. One important thing to note is that this conjugation changes the verb into essentially an i-adjective. This is because it&#8217;s no longer an actual action but a description of what one wants to do. Therefore, you can do all the same conjugations on the \u300c\uff5e\u305f\u3044\u300d form as any other i-adjectives.<\/p>\n<h3>Example<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u30ab\u30cb &#8211; crab<\/li>\n<li>\u6016\u3044 \u3010\u3053\u308f\u30fb\u3044\u3011 (i-adj) &#8211; scary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>\u30ab\u30cb\u3092<em>\u98df\u3079\u305f\u3044<\/em>\u3002<br \/>\n(I) want to eat crab.<\/li>\n<li>\u65e5\u672c\u306b<em>\u884c\u304d\u305f\u3044<\/em>\u3067\u3059\u3002<br \/>\n(I) want to go to Japan.<\/li>\n<li>\u6016\u3044\u6620\u753b\u306f\u3001<em>\u898b\u305f\u304f\u306a\u3044<\/em>\u3088\u3002<br \/>\n(I) don&#8217;t want to watch (a) scary movie.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Volitional Form<\/h2>\n<p>We&#8217;ll learn more about different uses of the volitional form later on but for now, we can simply consider the volitional form to mean &#8220;let&#8217;s&#8221; or &#8220;shall we&#8221; e.g., &#8220;Let&#8217;s go watch a movie.&#8221; The rules for changing a verb into the volitional form is below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sumbox\">\n<span class=\"summary\">Volitional form conjugation rules<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>For ru-verbs:<\/b> Drop the \u300c\u308b\u300d and add \u300c\u3088\u3046\u300d<br \/>\nExample: \u98df\u3079<strike>\u308b<\/strike> = \u98df\u3079\uff0b\u3088\u3046 = \u98df\u3079\u3088\u3046<\/li>\n<li><b>For u-verbs:<\/b> Replace the u-vowel sound with the o-vowel equivalent and \u300c\u3046\u300d<br \/>\nExample: \u884c<strike>\u304f<\/strike> + \u3053 + \u3046 = \u884c\u3053\u3046<\/li>\n<li><b>Exceptions:<\/b><br \/>\n\u300c\u3059\u308b\u300d becomes \u300c\u3057\u3088\u3046\u300d<br \/>\n\u300c\u304f\u308b\u300d becomes \u300c\u3053\u3088\u3046\u300d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<h3>I&#8217;m bored<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\uff5e\u306a (sentence-ending particle) &#8211; casual and masculine version of \uff5e\u306d<\/li>\n<li>\u56f3\u66f8\u9928 \u3010\u3068\u30fb\u3057\u3087\u30fb\u304b\u3093\u3011 &#8211; library<\/li>\n<li>\u52c9\u5f37 \u3010\u3079\u3093\u30fb\u304d\u3087\u3046\u3011 &#8211; study<\/li>\n<li>\u3059\u308b  &#8211; to do<\/li>\n<li>\u3064\u307e\u3089\u306a\u3044  &#8211; boring, dull<\/li>\n<li>\u3058\u3083  &#8211; then (casual)<\/li>\n<li>\u5927\u4e08\u592b \u3010\u3060\u3044\u30fb\u3058\u3087\u3046\u30fb\u3076\u3011 (na-adj) &#8211; ok<\/li>\n<li>\u7d76\u5bfe \u3010\u305c\u3063\u30fb\u305f\u3044\u3011 &#8211; definitely, for sure<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u30b8\u30e7\u30f3\uff1a \u6700\u8fd1\u306f\u3001\u6687\u3060\u306a\u3002<br \/>\nJohn: I have nothing to do lately.
