Using the te-form, we now know how to list multiple verb clauses similar to \u300c\u3068\u300d. However, in order to create a partial list of verbs similar to \u300c\u3084\u300d and \u300c\u3068\u304b\u300d, we must use another construction described below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sumbox\">\n<span class=\"summary\">Rule for creating partial list of verbs<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conjugate all the verbs to the past tense and attach \u300c\u308a\u300d to each verb. Finally, add \u300c\u3059\u308b\u300d at the end.\n<ol>\n<li>\u98df\u3079<em><strike>\u308b<\/strike><\/em> \u2192 \u98df\u3079<em>\u305f\uff0b\u308a<\/em> \u2192 \u98df\u3079<em>\u305f\u308a<\/em><\/li>\n<li>\u98f2<em><strike>\u3080<\/strike><\/em> \u2192 \u98f2<em>\u3093\u3060\uff0b\u308a<\/em> \u2192 \u98f2\u3093<em>\u3060\u308a<\/em><\/li>\n<li>\u98df\u3079\u305f\u308a\u98f2\u3093\u3060\u308a<em>\u3059\u308b<\/em>\u3002<br \/>\nDo things like eating and drinking.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Example<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u5bdd\u308b \u3010\u306d\u30fb\u308b\u3011(ru-verb) &#8211; to sleep<\/li>\n<li>\u30d3\u30fc\u30eb &#8211; beer<\/li>\n<li>\u30b9\u30dd\u30fc\u30c4 &#8211; sports<\/li>\n<li>\u6563\u6b69 \u3010\u3055\u3093\u30fb\u307d\u3011 &#8211; walk, stroll<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li><em>\u5bdd\u305f\u308a<\/em>\u3001\u672c\u3092<em>\u8aad\u3093\u3060\u308a\u3059\u308b<\/em>\u306e\u304c\u597d\u304d\u3002<br \/>\nLike to do things like sleeping and reading book(s).<\/li>\n<li>\u30d3\u30fc\u30eb\u3092<em>\u98f2\u3093\u3060\u308a<\/em>\u3001\u30c6\u30ec\u30d3\u3092<em>\u898b\u305f\u308a\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f<\/em>\u3002<br \/>\n(I) did things like drink beer and watch tv.<\/li>\n<li>\u30b9\u30dd\u30fc\u30c4\u3092<em>\u3057\u305f\u308a<\/em>\u3001\u6563\u6b69\u3092<em>\u3057\u305f\u308a\u3057\u307e\u3059<\/em>\u304b\u3002<br \/>\nDo (you) do things like sports and strolls?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Partial list of reasons<\/h2>\n<p>There may be more than one reason for something but \u300c\u304b\u3089\u300d and \u300c\u306e\u3067\u300d can only connect two sentences. Once again, we can use the te-form to list multiple reasons in one sentence. However, if we want to imply that the list is only several among a larger list of potential reasons, we can add \u300c\u3057\u300d to the end of each verb clause. <\/p>\n<p><b>Note:<\/b> You must add \u300c\u3060\u300d for plain nouns and na-adjectives.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u3001\u304d\u308c\u3044<em>\u3067<\/em>\u3001\u512a\u3057<em>\u304f\u3066<\/em>\u3001\u982d\u3082\u3044\u3044\u304b\u3089\u3001\u7686\u306b\u4eba\u6c17\u304c\u3042\u308b\u3002<br \/>\nBecause she is pretty, gentle, and smart, (she&#8217;s) popular with everybody.<\/li>\n<li>\u5f7c\u5973\u306f\u3001\u304d\u308c\u3044<em>\u3060\u3057<\/em>\u3001\u512a\u3057\u3044<em>\u3057<\/em>\u3001\u982d\u3082\u3044\u3044\u304b\u3089\u3001\u7686\u306b\u4eba\u6c17\u304c\u3042\u308b\u3002<br \/>\nBecause she is pretty, gentle, and smart <em>(among other reasons)<\/em>, (she&#8217;s) popular with everybody.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Examples<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u6691\u3044 \u3010\u3042\u3064\u30fb\u3044\u3011(i-adj) &#8211; hot (for climate\/weather only)<\/li>\n<li>\u6388\u696d \u3010\u3058\u3085\u30fb\u304e\u3087\u3046\u3011 &#8211; class<\/li>\n<li>\u30d7\u30fc\u30eb &#8211; pool<\/li>\n<li>\u75b2\u308c\u308b \u3010\u3064\u304b\u30fb\u308c\u308b\u3011(ru-verb) &#8211; to get tired<\/li>\n<li>\u7720\u3044 \u3010\u306d\u3080\u30fb\u3044\u3011(i-adj) &#8211; sleepy<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>\u4eca\u65e5\u306f\u6691\u3044<em>\u3057<\/em>\u3001\u6388\u696d\u3082\u306a\u3044\u304b\u3089\u3001\u30d7\u30fc\u30eb\u306b\u884c\u3053\u3046\u3002<br \/>\nBecause today is hot (among other reasons) and there&#8217;s also no class so let&#8217;s go to the pool.<\/li>\n<li>\u75b2\u308c\u305f<em>\u3057<\/em>\u3001\u7720\u3044<em>\u3057<\/em>\u3001\u4eca\u65e5\u306f\u3069\u3053\u306b\u3082\u884c\u304d\u305f\u304f\u306a\u3044\u3088\u3002<br \/>\n(I&#8217;m) tired and sleepy (among other reasons), (I) don&#8217;t want to go anywhere today.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Just hanging out again<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u97f3\u697d \u3010\u304a\u3093\u30fb\u304c\u304f\u3011 &#8211; music<\/li>\n<li>\u3046\u305d &#8211; lie; no way<\/li>\n<li>\u540c\u3058 \u3010\u304a\u306a\u30fb\u3058\u3011 &#8211; same<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u30a2\u30ea\u30b9\uff1a \u6628\u65e5\u306f\u3001\u4f55\u3092\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u306e\uff1f<br \/>\nAlice: What were you doing yesterday?<\/p>\n<p>\u30b8\u30e7\u30f3\uff1a \u5bbf\u984c\u306f\u306a\u304b\u3063\u305f<em>\u3057<\/em>\u3001\u6687\u3060\u3063\u305f\u304b\u3089\u3001\u30c6\u30ec\u30d3\u3092<em>\u898b\u305f\u308a<\/em>\u3001\u97f3\u697d\u3092<em>\u805e\u3044\u305f\u308a<\/em>\u3057\u3066\u3044\u305f\u3088\u3002\u30a2\u30ea\u30b9\u3061\u3083\u3093\u306f\uff1f<br \/>\nJohn: There was no homework and (I) was free (among other reasons) so (I) watched TV and listened to music (among other things).
