Most amounts can be expressed with just vocabulary, many of which we&#8217;ve already seen. Below is a list of just some of the vocabulary used to describe various amounts.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u5c11\u3057 \u3010\u3059\u3053\u30fb\u3057\u3011\u3000- a little <\/li>\n<li>\u3061\u3087\u3063\u3068 &#8211; a little (casual)<\/li>\n<li>\u305f\u304f\u3055\u3093 &#8211; a lot<\/li>\n<li>\u5c11\u306a\u3044 \u3010\u3059\u304f\u30fb\u306a\u3044\u3011 (i-adj) &#8211; few<\/li>\n<li>\u591a\u3044\u3000\u3010\u304a\u304a\u30fb\u3044\u3011 (i-adj) &#8211; many<\/li>\n<li>\u307e\u3060 &#8211; not yet<\/li>\n<li>\u3082\u3046 &#8211; already; more<\/li>\n<li>\u3082\u3046\u5c11\u3057 \u3010\u3082\u3046\u30fb\u3059\u3053\u30fb\u3057\u3011 &#8211; a little more<\/li>\n<li>\u3082\u3063\u3068 &#8211; a lot more<\/li>\n<li>\u305a\u3063\u3068 &#8211; a long time<\/li>\n<li>\u3053\u3093\u306a\u306b &#8211; this much<\/li>\n<li>\u305d\u3093\u306a\u306b &#8211; that much<\/li>\n<li>\u3042\u3093\u306a\u306b &#8211; that much (over there)<\/li>\n<li>\uff5e\u304f\u3089\u3044\uff0f\uff5e\u3050\u3089\u3044 &#8211; about \uff5e<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Expectation of more<\/h2>\n<p>There are two particles that are used to express the word &#8220;only&#8221;: \u300c\u3060\u3051\u300d and \u300c\u3057\u304b\u300d. Just like every other particle, these particles attach to the end of the word that they apply to. The primary difference with \u300c\u3057\u304b\u300d is that it <i>must<\/i> be used with the negative and emphasizes the lack of something.<\/p>\n<h3>Example<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\u8089 \u3010\u306b\u304f\u3011 &#8211; meat<\/li>\n<li>\u4eca\u591c \u3010\u3053\u3093\u30fb\u3084\u3011 &#8211; tonight<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>\u8089<em>\u3060\u3051\u98df\u3079\u308b<\/em>\u3002<br \/>\nEat only meat.<\/li>\n<li>\u8089<em>\u3057\u304b\u98df\u3079\u306a\u3044<\/em>\u3002<br \/>\nNot eat anything but meat.\n<\/li>\n<li>\u4eca\u591c\u306f\u3001\u4e8c\u4eba<em>\u3060\u3051<\/em>\u3067\u884c\u304d\u307e\u3057\u3087\u3046\u3002<br \/>\nLet&#8217;s go just the two of us tonight. (lit: As for tonight, let&#8217;s go by way of only two people.)<\/li>\n<li>\uff15\uff10\uff10\u5186<em>\u3057\u304b<\/em>\u6301\u3063\u3066\u3044\u307e\u305b\u3093\u3002<br \/>\n(I) only have 500 yen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Too much of something<\/h2>\n<p>An excess of something is expressed with the ru-verb \u300c\u904e\u304e\u308b\u300d\uff08\u3059\u30fb\u304e\u308b\uff09 which means, &#8220;to pass&#8221; or &#8220;to exceed&#8221;. There are several rules for attaching this verb to adjectives and other verbs.
